You are invited to join us for the launch of a multi-media exhibition, HUM SAB EK (We Are One), inspired by the actions of poor women working in the informal sector in India, as they navigated the greatest public health emergency of our times.
This exhibition is based on Dr. Satchit Balsari’s research on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the 2.9 million-strong Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA), and its members’ response to it. The research team surveyed over 1000 households and documented 30 hours of oral histories. The findings informed the art and exhibits developed by graduate students from across Harvard and by SEWA members themselves.
Beyond CGIS, the exhibition continues a longer journey of storytelling and change this summer, working with invited artists and scholars in other settings.
We hope you will join us for the opening talk and reception on April 15 at 6:00 pm in Belfer S020, CGIS South, 1730 Cambridge St, Cambridge.
