Regional secretary of IUF for Asia Pacific Hidayat Greenfield shared the global vision of Elaben which is inspiring women workers in the Asia Pacific region. The women journalists with The Afghan Times network in Afghanistan are translating the works in Dari and Pashto languages and are recording the content in short audio clips. “These clips are then disseminated through WhatsApp groups. The message is going in five provinces of the country, telling women about the story of SEWA and inspiring them,” he said. Greenfield was in Ahmedabad on Thursday on the
first death anniversary of the SEWA founder. He added that it is not just Afghanistan. “Her ethos and work are inspiring women across Asia. We also have instances from places such as Myanmar, Thailand and Indonesia where women form small groups and get to know about Elaben’s work and life journey. When conventional media is not available for dissemination, they take on social media for the same,” said Greenfield.
