SEWA Bazaar aspires to

Sisterhood and Solidarity

SEWA Bazaar aims to help women micro-entrepreneurs reach a bigger market – within and outside SEWA – by providing them with online and offline platforms to sell their products. This access allows them to grow their businesses, increase production and strengthen their financial stability. We also help them gain confidence in running their businesses.

To support this, we provide training in digital and financial skills, helping them manage costs, improve product quality and increase sales. This ultimately leads to better incomes and long-term success.

It enables members of SEWA and their social enterprises to build a common/ collective identity and brand in the market – thereby eliminating internal competition and providing everyone with an equal opportunity to grow. Many products required by customers (within SEWA itself as well as outside SEWA) are made available at one place – online or in a shop – thereby increasing our customer base and our outreach as well.

SEWA Bazaar offers both online and offline spaces where women-led businesses as well as women entrepreneurs can showcase their variety of products, including:

  • Apparel for All:
Clothing for men, women and children, featuring both traditional and modern designs.
  • Home Furnishings and Decor:
Handcrafted items like cushions, curtains, bed sheets and unique decorative pieces.
  • Accessories:
Jewellery, handbags, scarves and other fashion accessories.
  • Fabrics:
Hand-woven and hand-dyed fabrics representing various traditional crafts.
  • Food Products and Bakery Goods:
Homemade snacks, spices, bakery items, grains and pickles.
  • Fruits and Vegetables:
Fresh, organic produce from women farmers.
  • Stationery and Handmade Goods:
Eco-friendly notebooks, paper products and artisanal stationery.

SEWA Bazaar connects local artisans with a larger market, helping them grow their businesses alongside improving their lives through meaningful work.

SEWA Bazaar

At SEWA, we organize women workers from the informal economy, provide them with capacity building to create and access alternative economic opportunities. These economic opportunities are in the form of cooperatives or collectives such as Federations, Associations, producer companies or companies owned by the members themselves – which we term as ‘membership-based organizations’ of the poor.

This leads to SEWA members being owners and managers of a family of membership-based organizations – several members producing / offering services under their own brands or unbranded – all having their own localized markets. Parallel to this are several of SEWA’s members who are still not members of such cooperatives or social enterprises, but who work as self-employed/ entrepreneurs in their own individual capacities.

In order to enable these member-owned social enterprises as well as individual micro- entrepreneur members of SEWA to broaden their market access, SEWA has launched ‘SEWA Bazaar’ – a digital social enterprise that promotes traditional livelihoods by providing a platform for women micro-entrepreneurs to sell their products.

Preserve Traditional Crafts

SEWA Bazaar is committed to protecting traditional crafts that have been passed down through generations. Many of these crafts are in danger of being lost, so by giving artisans a platform to showcase their work, we help keep these valuable traditions alive. These crafts also provide sustainable jobs for many women.

Through our marketplace, these artisans can reach customers who appreciate the beauty and heritage of their work, which also promotes environmental-friendly, handmade production methods.

Generate More Livelihood Opportunities

SEWA Bazaar works to create more job opportunities for women and their families by giving them the tools and resources to grow their businesses. Every product sold through our platform helps women become more financially independent, which strengthens their communities and contributes to economic growth.

SEWA Bazaar helps generate new forms of decent and dignified livelihood opportunities for SEWA’s members in areas like logistics and management, bar coding, packaging, quality control, photo-shooting, cataloguing, inventory management, warehousing etc.

Our vision is to help thousands of women – especially youth – earn better incomes and lead more secure, dignified lives. SEWA Bazaar is more than just a marketplace—it’s a movement to empower women, protect traditional crafts and create lasting social and economic impact.
